Introduction

The Elite Trials have been a feature of (JAWA) since late 2005 although the actual system has evolved a lot over the years. Back in 2005 there wasn't any actual trial involved, the way you'd pass would be to demonstrate great saber skill in the presence of SiLink. Chrono was (JAWA)'s first Elite and as mentioned above did not pass any actual trials to get the rank. In present times, members must achieve the rank of Guardian before applying and must go on to face 5 Trial Masters (Council Members) and pass at least 3 of their tests to pass the first Tier. If a member does pass the first tier they will be promoted at a ceremony and their rank will be Elite¹. After passing the trials there is a 6 month waiting period and after you may apply for Tier 2. Tier 2 consists of 3 Trial Masters and you must pass at least 2 of the trials. Upon passing their will be another ceremony and the member would receive the rank of Elite². Last is the final Tier. You must take and complete the Final Trial Masters test. If this is passed then Another ceremony will be held and their rank would be Elite³. Now if a member was to gain Disciple at the time they held Elite their rank would then turn in to Master and the corresponding tier they have passed. If the person who takes the trials fails, then they will have to wait 2 months before reapplying. There is usually a high demand for the Elite trials, so if you don't think you have a chance but want to see if you'd pass then it probably isn't worth applying at all as you may waste someone else's time.

Once somebody applies to become an elite, they are polled in The Council to see if it's worth that person taking the trials, this is usually to allow those who may be able to achieve the rank to be able to take the trials. Once a positive decision has been reached, somebody from The Council will inform the applicant that they are to meet with each Trial Master and organize a day for them to do their trials (Applicants are only allowed to face one Trial Master per day). After that has been done, the applicant can go ahead and take all the trials, be aware though that the applicant is not informed of their results until the very final ceremony when all the Trial Masters come together and inform the applicant in front of everyone if he/she has passed. Also be aware that this is done even if the applicant has failed, so if you don't like hearing you've failed in public you may want to avoid the Elite Trials.

So you want to be one of the few? You've come to the right place.

Achieving the rank of Elite will not come quick, it will not come easy and it will be a unforgettable experience.
I have been part of the JK series since the days of Dark Forces II, and I can promise you that I will make it my mission for you to fail your Elite trials. I've seen many different styles and tactics of saber fighting, and have gone up against some of the best this game has to offer. Your test will be broken up into several parts, including an Endurance Test, a Speed Test and a few curve balls here and there. Don't expect to walk in and walk out without breaking a sweat, but if you somehow pass you will be granted with the honour of calling yourself Elite. Are you up for the challenge? Focus up and lets see what you got.

Having Elite means having the skills to not only master your favoured weapon, but beat a wide range of enemies with it. My trial consists of five sections.

While some of our most enjoyable battles are against those with a variety of tactics, we need to expect the.. expected. The first section of my trial will measure your ability to protect and fight against some of the most annoying fighters: Spammers.
When you only have one fight, there's not always time to adapt. The second section will pit you against some popular but also some rare styles which will be presented in random order.
A master should be able to cause massive damage in any stance. The third section will test your abilities with your weapon ... and without it.
You'll want to make sure you don't pull an early Batman Begins moment and forget to mind your environment. The forth section is high, low, big, small, careful trialist, we'll do it all.
Hope I'm on a bad day because lastly you'll fight me in a series of duels where the only objective is to win. And to end the fifth and final section... Beast Mode... Your worst nightmare will come true. ... Good Luck!!

The rank of Elite is not meant for everyone, it takes not only saber skill, but tactics, footwork and much more.. I will put my challengers to the test in all categories. Be aware, I may not be the most skilled of em all, it's not my skill we're testing now, is it?

You will not only face me in a series of duels, but you will be tested on your balance, your footwork but also your creativity, as you will be given objectives that require you to think outside the box to complete them. And to finish the fun, you will be tested on strategy, can you come up with something to overcome the odds?

The qualities of an elite is much more than simply winning a few duels or attaining a decent ratio. I have a lot of experience playing competitively in clanmatches, basejka ESL and scrims vs many of the more known players and teams of my time; learning everything that was required to be at the top of my game. So I know all too well that gaining the elite title isn't a five minute process; it took me years to learn what I have done, plus the experience that came with it and accepting defeat whilst learning from it. Now it's my turn to be in my old master's shoes to judge those who think they are ready to attain the title of an "Elite".

Gaining such a title isn't going to be easy though. You will need to show me that you have the skills and knowledge of what you can do, but being able to express it with the right attitude/prowess. A motto I have always played by is "winning isn't a victory if it is cheated". You can use as many exploits and cheap moves as you want but that's not what I'm looking for as an Elite. Show me what you are capable of and most importantly, good luck!

To gain elite, one must utilize all aspects of combat, teamwork and movement to achieve their goals. Expect to be challenged in all aspects of gameplay, prepare yourself to be pushed to your very limits, for becoming an elite is no easy task.

Those who hold the rank of Elite are viewed as representatives of the entire clan. To be a fit representative, a member must not only demonstrate great skill with the lightsaber and other Jedi powers, but also honour, loyalty, and fairness toward others. Only those who possess these qualities are permitted to take the trials.

My trial consists of three main parts: the trialist must duel me using his or her best technique; then the trialist must demonstrate his or her ability to face multiple opponents at once; and then the trialist must demonstrate a variety of other skills and abilities required of a Jedi Knight. Other tests may be included at random, or tailored to the unique skills of the trialist.
A trialist's score is not based on his or her ability to win, but on the degree of skill demonstrated during the trial. A trialist will receive no credit in my trial for substituting exploits and tricks in place of skill. One may lose a duel and yet receive full credit, or win and receive none. Each trialist will be judged on his or her merits as a Jedi Knight.

Winning and losing does not determine skill. I don't judge based on HP remaining in a duel; I judge based on HOW you fight. Your reactions, planning, adaptivity, timing, and how you judge situations will be a strong focus in my trials. I look for effective fighting (though effective, fanning won't help your scoring), so you don't need to try to show me any flashy moves.

You will be pitted from against many opponents, to a few. Again, adaptivity is a key focus, not if you die or how much HP you have left. With the addition of more Tiers to Elite and Master, the scoring gets more difficult as you go up. If you thought the Tier 1 trial was difficult..you better prepare.

The trial you will be taking, isn't something lightsaber oriented only. Despite the term 'Elite' which is the only rank granted for your skills, you will be tested with much more.

You will face all possible lightsaber combat odds thrown at you. Besides the most involving part which is the swordsmanship that takes half of the trials, you will be tested in the meaning of your agility, reactions, creativity, strategy and perception. You will have to show your iron will against unfair battles with many people involved. But beware.. I am not someone who will allow anyone to pass their trials. Those are the only moments, when I am serious.

I have been testing members skills to achieve the Elite rank since 2006 and without bragging I know what it takes to make it as an Elite in (JAWA). My trials involve 25 duels which are scored in a certain way that only the Trial Masters and myself know, you will simply be asked to do your best. My trials also involve other members who will fight against you and a mix of sabers. Please be aware that nobody here wants you to pass when you take the trials, we'll do our best to make sure you do not pass them as that's our job as testers... it would not be fair otherwise. Good luck if you apply :).

Trial Masters

Amongst the greatest honours accorded to members of the (JAWA) Clan are the ranks of Elite and Master. Anyone seeking these ranks must demonstrate both great skill and great commitment to the clan. Since the rebirth of the (JAWA) Clan in 2006, these members have had to undergo a series of Elite Trials, administered by members of the (JAWA) Council, whose own skills and knowledge of the game qualify them to stand as judges for those who desire to prove their ability.

At the beginning of 2006, the Elite rank was called Master, and applicants had to face all members of the Council. However, in February the Council appointed three Trial Masters to oversee and simplify the process. The first Trial Masters were HI, Shinobi, and Chrono. Since then, the rank of Master was renamed Elite, and Master reconstituted as a separate rank above that of Disciple. In June, 2007, the trials were administered by four masters. The following month, the clan briefly experimented with a system in which all Council members administered trials. However, by the end of July, the Council decided to revert to the Trial Master system.
